Leisurely hike from Milders via the mountain farm Forchach as well as via the mountain farms of Kartnall to Neustift.
As the Stubai valley floor was frequently flooded, the farmers looked for alternative land and found a yielding "quarter" of earth in Kartnall (from Romanic "quartinale") at the end of the 13th century. The lower and upper Kartnallhofs were established - manorial farms designed for livestock and dairy farming and limited arable cultivation, the landowners of which were the St. Nicholas parish church in Hall. In order to be allowed to cultivate the fields, taxes had to be paid in kind (1/10 of the total yield). Today, tourism and the cows, sheep and goats secure the existence of the two family farms. The animals graze the meadows and their milk is used to make butter, grey cheese and curd.
Start your tour at the bus stop in Milders village centre, there you walk in the direction of Oberbergtal. After a walking time of approx. 30min, walk along the road in the direction of Kartnall. After a tunnel you will reach the Forchach mountain farm, now you can continue to the Kartnallhöfe farms. The Kartnallhöfe farms invite you to take a short or longer break, and you can then descend via the hiking trail in the direction of Neustift.
