The Stubaital can be seen from its entrance to the end on the highest peaks of its main ridge like few other valleys. The five villages of the valley, Schönberg, Mieders, Telfes, Fulpmes and Neustift, appear centred around their church towers. The glaciated main ridge of the Stubai Alps with its highest peak, the Zuckerhütl, forms the end of the valley, visible from afar.
The valley floor is characterised by alternating settlements, meadows and valley forests.
