Stage 1 of the multi-day hike through the Stubai range comprises the route between the Starkenburger Hut and the Franz Senn Hut. The ascent / descent is 970 m over a distance of approx. 15 km  – the highlight of the tour: from the Kalkkögeln, the Stubai dolomites, the route takes you to the granite mountains of the Stubai Main Ridge.

Follow the signs to Seejöchl and the Franz Senn Hut along the south-west slope passing below the ‘Hoher Burgstall’ to the Blachnsattel. Through a field of rocks and scree, the trail passes below the Kalkkögeln to the Seejöchl (2,518 m) and above the mountain lake ‘Schlicker See’ to the Sendersjöchl. From there, the trail zigzags steeply down on the south side (roped in some sections) to the Rote Wand, then continues at the same level followed by a slight downhill incline leading to the Seducker Hochalm (food and drink available). After that, you cross the Villergrube and continue along the slopes of the inner Oberberg Valley. For the final stretch, it is only a short way down a few winding paths before you reach your destination – the Franz Senn Hut – after approx. 7 hours.
