The mountain landscape that stretches from Sulzenauhütte to the foot of Sulzenauferner glacier is like a glacier theme trail shaped by nature. There are not many places in the Alps, where one can see the many different forms a glacier shaped landscape can take on such a short stretch: the Blaue Lacke moraine lake just above the hut, the colourful, polished glacial abrasions, the milky white glacier brook, a glacier lake and the mouth of Sulzenau glacier with its many little runlets and glacial mills and a rock face with numerous little waterfalls. The jagged towers of the ice fall of Sulzenauferner tower high above and on the very top is the snow-covered summit of the Zuckerhütl, the highest mountain of the Stubai Alps. The good thing is that we can explore all of this on good trails in immediate proximity to the hut. It is not surprising that the area has become a popular excursion destination for school classes.
