opis

Nature's glacier nature trail - The mountain landscape from the Sulzenau Hut to the foot of the Sulzenauferner is like a glacier nature trail created by nature.
Rarely in the Alps can we marvel at the various appearances of the glacier landscape at such a short distance: the moraine lake "Blaue Lacke" just above the hut, the colourful glacial striations, the milky glacial stream, a glacial lake and a glacial gate at the foot of the shallowly flowing Sulzenaugletscher with small rivulets and glacial mills, above a rock face with numerous small waterfalls. High above, the jagged towers of the Sulzenauferner glacier break motionless, and at the very top, the small snowy peak of the highest mountain in the Stubai Alps, the Zuckerhütl. Pleasantly, we can explore all this in the immediate vicinity of the hut on good trails. No wonder the area has become a popular destination for school groups.

Hike 1: From the Sulzenauhütte to the foot of the Sulzenauferner: The hike leads from the hut to the Sulzenauferner via an easy hiking trail in about 1 hour 20 minutes. The trail leads past beautiful glacier loops. The Sulzenauhütte invites you to stop for refreshments.

Hike 2: Dresdner Hütte via the Peiljoch (2,676m) to the Sulzenauhütte (for the route, see "WildeWasser Höhenweg stage 2"): The Stubai Glacier Cableways make it possible to reach the Dresdner Hut with a gondola lift. A stony, well-laid path leads up to the Peiljoch, from where you can enjoy good views of the Sulzenauferner. A special feature here are the countless cairns that have been built up by mountaineers over many years. After a short descent over stepped terrain, we reach the finishing point of hike 1. The walking time is approx. 3 hours, the Sulzenauhütte and the Dresdner Hütte invite you to stop for refreshments.
