The huts along the high trail

The Stubai High Mountain Trail takes you from hut to hut. Each of the huts is the start and finish of a stage of the high mountain hike. The typical mountain huts captivate with their charm, breathtaking views and offer down-to-earth cuisine with regional products.

They are member huts of the ÖAV or DAV and offer the appropriate standard. You can spend the night in rooms or dormitories and gather energy for the next section of the trail. We recommend Oropax for a good night's sleep.

RESERVATIONS

The Stubai High Trail is becoming increasingly popular, so many huts are booked early in the season. During the holiday season and at weekends, the huts can get crowded. Hike as anti-cyclically as possible and book well in advance, especially if you are travelling with a group or a dog. Overnight stays without a reservation cannot be guaranteed. Online bookings are possible for most huts. Please note the cancellation conditions of the respective hut! If you have to cancel your tour on the way, please inform the huts immediately so that the places can be allocated to waiting hikers.

The Starkenburger Hut was built in the mountains above Neustift in 1900 by the Starkenburg section of the German Alpine Club. In recent years a lot of work has been put into its modernisation.

Pastor Franz Senn had the idea of a tourist lodge with 12 hay beds. Since 1885 the Austrian alpine club section Innsbruck is the owner of the hut. During one century Franz Senn Hut became one of the leading hiker bases in the eastern Alps.

The hut was built in 1930/31 and is located imposingly over a step at the edge of „Hohe Moos“, flanked by a waterfall. In western direction you can see the top of the valley and the „Ruderhofspitze“, in the east the imposing mountain”Habicht”.

Dresdner Hut
Dresdner hut was built by the alpine club section Dresden in 1887 in the upper Fernau. In 2008 the hut was fit up into contemporary standard and offers lodgment for hikers and skiers. Double and four-bedded rooms, dormitory with warm and cold flowing water. Sauna and infra red cabine for payment. Ski/shoes and drying room. Comfortable restaurant and excellent cuisine provide culinary delicacies.

Sulzenau hut is a beautiful base for a few days in the mountains. Dreamily located in midst green alpine pastures and superior nature, the area pleasures the young and old. Below the glacier giants you can ride on the “Flying Fox” over the rushing mountain break, as passionate climber you explore the climbing park and fixed rope routes or you search by GPS the next cache.
