Tobogganing fun - Safety first

All toboggan runs in the Stubaital have been awarded the Tyrol's toboggan run quality seal, including the winter toboggan run in Mieders. The seal of quality is awarded to toboggan runs that can demonstrate snow reliability for at least 80 days per year and, above all, routes that are sufficiently secured to enable safe use.

When tobogganing, you should also follow a few recommendations:

  1.  Be considerate of other toboggan run users. Your own behaviour should not endanger or harm others.
  2. Make sure that the track is open for tobogganing and inform yourself about the course of the track. Barriers and warning signs should be observed.
  3.  It is recommended to use a quality sled and to wear a safety helmet and sturdy shoes. For safety reasons, do not use plastic bobs or plastic bases.
  4. Only cross toboggan runs at clear places, sit right behind each other.
  5. Speed and driving style must be adapted to your own ability, the toboggan run, the snow, ice and weather conditions, as well as the traffic density.
  6.  Draw attention to yourself. Warn inattentive climbers (bells, loud shouts). Use a headlamp and reflective clothing in the dark.
  7. Wait for your companion at clearly visible places. Make sure your group is complete. Never stop at narrow and unclear places.
  8.  Sledding on ski slopes is dangerous and forbidden. There is a high risk of collision with skiers. Toboggan marks frozen in the night impair the quality of the slopes.
  9. No dogs. Dogs are difficult to guide on the ascent and descent, there is a great danger of collision with downhill riders on the usually narrow toboggan runs.
  10. No impairment due to alcohol or medication.

The following also applies to tobogganing: provide first aid and identify yourself in the event of an accident.
