A trail run is not a trail run without support!
To best cheer on the participants along the route, we recommend the following hotspots at the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL:
Landestheater IBK (Start ULTRATRAIL 1:00 am, Race Briefing 00:45 am)
The STUBAI ULTRATRAIL will start at the forecourt of the time-honoured Landestheater in Innsbruck. Those wanting to wish runners the best wishes or just wanting to cheer them on should come here. However, this means getting up early. The race start is at one o' clock in the morning.
Directions: From Neustift, Innsbruck can be reached within 30 minutes via the A13. Parking facilities: Innenstadtgarage (downtown garage), Congress Garage
Schlicker Alm for hikers (first runner 03:49 am; cut-off time: 7:30 am)
The idyllically situated Alm (guest house) in the valley basin of the hiking centre Schlick 2000 boasts a long history of running, especially mountain running. It is the eponym of the international Schlickeralmlauf (Schlickeralm run), which has been held in the Stubai valley for almost 30 years. There are two ways to see the runners of the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL here: Either hike up in the early morning or reserve a room in the Alm in good time to stay overnight
Directions: From the Talstation Schlick 2000 follow the forest path on foot to the middle station Froneben. From there, the Schlickeralm can be reached in approx. 1 hour.
Sennjoch (first runner 4:23 am)
The Sennjoch marks the transition from Fulpmes to Neustift in the Stubai valley, and it is also the point where the participants of the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL first pass the 2,000-metre mark. Spectators are advised to get up here in time to cheer on the athletes. The best will pass this spot around 4:20 am and the latest pass-through time is 8:37 am.
Directions: From the Talstation Schlick 2000 follow the forest path on foot to the middle station Froneben. From there, the Schlickeralm can be reached in approx. 1 hour. Afterwards, another hour's climb takes you on a steep climb to the Sennjoch.
Starkenburger Hütte (first runners from 4:39 am, cut-off time: 9:30 am)
The Starkenburger Hütte marks a significant milestone for the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL: At 2,237 metres, it is the highest point in the race so far; almost half of the total distance has been covered, and from here, it goes downhill for the first time. Spectators will be able to cheer on participants until about 9:30 am.
Directions: From Neustift village the trail passes the open-air swimming pool, and then it heads up hill over a small bridge on the right, taking many serpentines, first through woods and then through lighter terrain to the Starkenburger Hütte. From here, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the entire Stubai valley.
Neustift Centre (Start BASICTRAIL 10:00 am)
At Neustift, some long-distance runners will meet the participants of the STUBAI BASICTRAIL, and, from here the route is the same for both categories. 28.7 kilometres and a good 2,500 metres of altitude difference still have to be covered.
The BASICTRAIL starts at 10:00 am at the Freizeitzentrum car park.
Directions: The Freizeitzentrum is located in the centre of Neustift; parking spaces for spectators are located next to the office of the Stubai Tourism Association, from where the Freizeitzentrum can be reached on foot within 8 minutes.
Doadler Alm for families (first runners from 6:01 am, cut-off time: 1:00 pm)
The runners will also be able to take a break in the Klaus Äuele recreation area. In addition to the turquoise-blue Ruetzbach stream and smaller alluvial landscapes, the trail moves along at a leisurely pace through the beautiful mountain landscape. Families can cheer for their relatives here and have a nice picnic right after.
Directions: From Neustift, follow Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 8.4 km. Parking spaces are available on the left after the bridge or at the Doadler Alm.
Tschangelair Alm (first runner from 6:36 am, cut-off time: 2:15 pm)
One of the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL’s vital refreshment stations is located at the Tschangelair Alm. Home-made specialities such as a hearty goat goulash or freshly caught char might be too much for the runners. However, their fans might be ready for a hearty meal.
Directions: From Neustift, follow Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 12.9 km. Parking spaces are available at the WildeWasserweg or the Nürnberger-Hütte car park.
Mutterberg valley station (start GLETSCHERTRAIL 11:00 am)
The Stubai GLETSCHERTRAIL, a pure mountain running track, starts at the valley station of the Gamsgartenbahn. From here the runners expect 8,0 km and 1.394 metres in elevation.
The GLETSCHERTRAIL starts at 11:00 am.
Directions: From Neustift on Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 17.8 km to the Eisgratbahn valley station .
Dresdner Hütte (first runners from 7:45 am, cut-off time: 4:45 pm)
At the Dresdner Hütte, the oldest refuge huts in the Stubai valley, the glacier seems to be within reach for the first time; and from here, runners will have to gather up all their strength for the next stretch. Runners will be happy to see many spectators as possible, as they will need as much encouragement as possible.
Directions: From Neustift on Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 17.8 km to the Eisgratbahn Talstation. From here, you can reach the Dresdner Hütte by means of an Eisgrat-Gondelbahn (ice ridge gondola, exit at the middle station).
On foot: from the Mutterberg car park, a 45-minute hike will get you to the Dresdner Hütte.
Eisgrat –music and food are provided to spectators (first runners from 8:18 am)
The Eisgrat Bergstation (mountain station) at the Stubai glacier forms the gateway to the glacier and the 3,000-metre mark is imminent. From here participants have to conquer another 200 metres of ascent before they will reach the finish at the Jochdohle.
Good atmosphere and food will be provided.
Directions: From Neustift on Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 17.8 km to the Eisgratbahn Talstation. From here on out, you can reach the Dresdner Hütte via the Eisgrat-Gondelbahn (exit at the Bergstation).
On foot: from the Mutterberg car park, walk 45 min. to the Dresdner Hütte (or take the Eisgrat-Gondelbahn to the Fernau middle station); from there, ascend via the Gletscherweg to Bergstation Eisgrat in approx. 2h.
Finish line Jochdohle (first runner from 8:33 am, cut-off time: 6:30 pm)
At Jochdohle, the highest restaurant in the Alps – “You’ve made it”! The only thing that leads up higher is the path to the TOP OF TYROL summit platform. Those who have conquered the more than 1,300 meters of altitude difference of the glacier section will not only be rewarded with a Finisher Shirt but also a breath-taking view of the Stubai glacier and the surrounding 3,000 m peaks of the Stubai Alps.
Directions: From Neustift on Stubaitalstraße B 183 for 17.8 km to the Eisgratbahn Talstation. Ascend with the Eisgrat Gondelbahn to the Bergstation. From there, continue on the Schaufeljochbahn. From the Bergstation, the finish area can be reached within 5 minutes on foot.
