KLAUS ÄUELE – WILDEWASSERWEG – MUTTERBERG

From the very beginning, at the turquoise glacial stream at the local recreation area “Klaus Äuele”, near Neustift in Stubaital, visitors will already be impressed by the picturesque surroundings which are so characteristic of this route.
Without too many vertical metres of descent, more than 18 kilometres with 1,796 metres of elevation need to be mastered in order to reach the goal, which is the 2,960m Jochdohle on the Stubai Glacier. Following a leisurely ascent, the next highlight of the trail begins with the Wild Water Path. You follow the stream along a gravel path, past roaring waters, and up to the Grawa waterfall, the widest waterfall in the Eastern Alps. The last stage begins just one and a half kilometres further, at the valley station in Mutterberg, and it is going to be hard work again, draining the last reserves of the runners – the final ascent of the Stubai Glacier.

FINAL ASCENT TO THE STUBAI GLACIER

A final spurt in the kingdom of snow: for the last section the runners have to muster all their strength again. A winding path leads from the glacier cable car’s base station near Mutterberg at 1,746 metres above sea level, past the Dresdner Hütte over rock, snow and ice to the finish at the mountain station Eisgrat (2,960 m).
