Genusswanderung beim Alpengasthaus Gleinserhof
A hike to one of the most beautiful nature sites in the Stubaital, the “Eulenwiesen“, is recommended near the Gleinserhof in Gleins near Schönberg.
The larches of the Eulenwiesen allow for the development of a unique variety of flowers (pasqueflowers, gentian,aArnica, alpine anemones,…) and of alpine meadow and dwarf bushes. These “Larchbergmahder“ originated as a result of fire clearings.
Farmers needed new pasturelands due to the many inundations in the valley and looked for new land at about 1,700 metres above sea level. While spruces and pined burned to the ground, the larches only blazed externally and had regenerated by the next spring. It was only possible to preserve this beautiful and valuable nature site by intensive care and management measures of the Gleins’ farmers.
The way there by car leads up an asphalted mountain route from Schönberg to Gleins to the alpine inn Gleinserhof at 1420m (parking possibilities). This is the ideal place to take a break and enjoy the wonderful view across the Stubaital and the fascinating Stubai’s mountain world.
Enjoy Tyrolean specialities and our own farm produce, such as the Gleinser Knödelteller, beef goulash, Kiachl with Sauerkraut or Kirchtagskrapfen and Kaskrapfen, Tyrolean Gröstl, curd cheese cake, etc.
