Traditionally through the Stubai summer

with dances and songs

Anyone who spends a holiday in the Stubai Valley quickly realises that traditions play a major role in this region. This summer, visitors once again have the opportunity to get to know them and immerse themselves for a moment in real Stubai life. In five villages, on the alpine pastures and on the Stubai Glacier, you can enjoy nature, sing together and experience culture with the locals of the valley.

A walk or a hike through the Stubai Alps, relaxation at one of the mountain lakes, an excursion by bike or a discovery tour with the whole family - the Stubai Valley, only 20 minutes by car from Innsbruck, offers young and old a variety of possibilities. Exciting events around the themes of music and tradition await guests in the warm season.

With music from alp to alp

There is something going on throughout the Stubai Valley with the folk music event named "Klang & G'sang auf den Almen". On Sunday, 30 July, you can celebrate to folk music from the entire Alpine region at various huts and alpine pastures while enjoying the panorama and the local cuisine. Something similar is offered by the event "Stubaier G'spiel und G'sang" around Mt. Serles, at the Serlesbahnen in Mieders. On one Sunday each in July, August and September, singers and musicians at the ‘Ochsenhütte’, ‘Gleinserhof’, ‘Gasthaus Sonnenstein’ and ‘Bergrestaurant Koppeneck’ ensure a good mood.

Church in the mountains

High up is the mountain mass on the Stubai Glacier. On Sunday, 6 August, visitors can experience the peace and power of the mountain world during a Holy Mass at 3,000 metres at the Schaufeljoch chapel. There will be refreshments and musical entertainment afterwards. On Sunday, 13 August, musical guests from all over the Alpine region come together for the 25thStubaier Almklang” – a folk music event in the Pinnis Valley next to Neustift. Surrounded by impressive rock faces and green meadows, locals and guests, young and old enjoy the musical atmosphere in the Stubai mountains. Only two weeks later, on Sunday 27 August, the “Kirchtag on the Froneben Alm” in the Schlick 2000 is on the program. After the church service, it continues with live music and Stubai delicacies.

Experience tradition

In addition to unique events, the Stubaital also offers weekly highlights. Every Tuesday evening in July and August, the Tyrolean folk evening "G'musigt und Getanzt" with live music by Stubai Power takes place on the village square in Fulpmes. The music carousel in Neustift is just as musical. Every Thursday until mid-September, visitors are entertained by a varied program: Folk, dance and brass music, hits and rock, stars of the scene and local groups ensure that there really is something for every taste. The evening is rounded off by the cosy terrace restaurants and inviting shops of the Neustift village square.

Also in Neustift, the farmers' market takes place every second Friday in June and every Friday from 14 July to 20 October. Regional fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products such as bacon and cheese, farmhouse bread but also handicrafts and wooden handicrafts await you here.

Alpine livestock drive in the Stubai Valley

When the trees change colour and the Stubai Valley shines in golden hues, five weeks are dedicated to the Stubai autumn highlights. This is also when the traditional alpine livestock drives – the so called “Almabtriebe” – take place. They start on Saturday, 9 September, in Fulpmes, followed by Neustift and Telfes on Saturday, 16 September, and Milders on Saturday, 23 September. While the decorated animals are driven down into the valley in the morning, the festivals and farmers' markets begin there.
