Spectacular Kick-off: Slopestyle World Cup lands at Stubai Glacier with top-tier line-up

From November 20 to 23, 2024, the global freeski elite from over 20 countries will meet at the FIS Freeski World Cup in Stubai Zoo, to mark the start of a thrilling new slopestyle season. Featuring the world’s top riders — Olympic champions, X Games legends, and World Cup titleholders — the event will see competitors battling it out for the season’s first crucial points. Prepare for a world-class spectacle, with the electrifying finals broadcast live on international networks.

A power-packed line-up for epic slopestyle action
Now in its eighth year at the popular Stubai Zoo Snowpark, the World Cup opener promises a stage for jaw-dropping tricks and intense battles over a prize pool of 60,000 CHF. 90 athletes from five continents are set to compete, making this year’s lineup as star-studded as it gets. From Europe to the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the best freeskiers are primed to unleash their skills on Stubai’s meticulously designed park in what promises to be the season’s first unforgettable slopestyle showdown.

Olympic Champions and X Games stars take the stage
The men's event is primed for a showdown among top-tier international talent, with podium hopefuls ready for action. Among the favorites are Swiss star Andri Ragettli, who narrowly missed the podium last year in fourth place, and Norwegian sensation Birk Ruud, Big Air Olympic champion and Stubai winner in 2021 and 2022, aiming for a triple win. Joining them is last year’s full podium lineup, led by Canadian Evan McEachran alongside the American duo of Mac Forehand and Alex Hall. Sweden’s legendary Jesper Tjäder, a slopestyle Olympic bronze medallist, also looks set to make his mark, as he did in 2022.

Women’s highlights: another triple in sight
The women’s field is stacked, promising a thrilling contest. Estonia’s Kelly Sildaru, multiple-time X Games winner and world champion, is targeting her third Stubai victory after wins in 2018 and 2021. However, she faces tough competition: Swiss slopestyle Olympic champion and last year’s winner Mathilde Gremaud, fresh from her victory in Chur, is poised to bring her A-game to thwart Sildaru’s triple attempt.

Home advantage for the Austrian team
Austria is set to bring local pride to the course with a strong team. Salzburg’s freeski talent Matej Svancer, fresh off his confidence-boosting win at the Big Air World Cup opener in Chur (SUI), is among the favorites. Teammates Lukas Müllauer, Julius Forer, and Hannes Rudigier are also geared up for a standout performance at home. This impressive roster promises to bring Austrian power and style to the Stubai slopestyle course.
