At an altitude of over 3,000 metres, the TOP OF TYROL summit platform offers a fantastic view and a fresh summer experience on warm summer days.
Impressive nature, unforgettable outdoor adventures and a wide range of activities for children and families - the Stubai Glacier also impresses with its diversity in the summer. Thanks to its proximity to Innsbruck, it is not only the ideal destination for a holiday, but also for short breaks and day trips. Clear mountain air, pleasant temperatures and breath-taking views make the Stubai Glacier an unforgettable excursion destination.
Step by step to summit bliss
Whether it's an impressive panoramic hike, an alpine adventure or a challenging long-distance hike lasting several days - hiking is one of the most beautiful ways to discover the mountains. Ambitious mountaineers can conquer 80 kilometres and 6,000 metres of altitude difference on the Stubai High Trail in one go or in several stages from hut to hut. A slightly more leisurely, but no less impressive hike for the whole family leads along the Glacier Path. On the way from the Fernau middle station, past the “Bunte Moor”, to the Eisgrat mountain station, the Stubai Glacier presents itself from its most beautiful side. The Fernau climbing park, with its numerous via ferratas and sport climbing routes, is the perfect place for an adventure in lofty heights. Those looking for the ultimate challenge can demonstrate what they can on Friday, 28 June and Saturday, 29 June at the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL race. Under the motto ‘city2glacier’, the challenge is to run from the provincial capital of Innsbruck to the Stubai Glacier up to almost 3,000 metres of altitude within one day.
Yoga amidst the Stubai Glacier landscape
The TOP OF TYROL summit platform is undoubtedly one of the highlights on the Stubai Glacier. It not only offers an overwhelming view over the Stubai Alps all the way to the Dolomites, but also the opportunity to take a deep breath and calm down amidst the impressive mountain scenery. It is therefore also the ideal place for a special event, which will take place on Sunday 28 July: Glacier Yoga offers all those interested a workshop in a real high-energy spot. Here, the tranquillity and power of the mountains flow into the yoga exercises and make them a unique experience.
No place for boredom
Summer on the Stubai Glacier has many facets and much more to offer than numerous hiking and climbing experiences. The mammoth high-altitude playground proves that the Stubai Glacier is a paradise for families. A six-metre-high wooden mammoth awaits the children here, where they can climb, slide and romp about. New this summer is a real-size wooden piste machine to play on. Summer on the Stubai Glacier also has exciting events in store for the whole family: As part of the BIG Family Week, a colourful programme with a magic show, face painting for children and the piste machine as a photo station will take place on Thursday, 25 July. On Sunday, 4 August, it is well worth attending the festive mountain mass at the Schaufeljoch chapel - an atmospheric setting amidst the Stubai mountain scenery.
Culinary highlights on the Stubai Glacier
The menu includes numerous BBQ dishes and Tyrolean specialities.
