Cool refreshment meets panoramic views

Unique summer experiences in the Stubai Valley

If you are looking for fresh air, cool moments and impressive views on hot summer days, the Stubai Valley is the right place for you. At all altitudes between the glacier and the valley, there are special places to take a deep breath, experience and marvel - from the new slide path in the Schlick 2000 hiking centre, crystal-clear lakes at the Serlesbahnen, a walk-on sundial at the Elferbahnen to the highest panoramic point at over 3,000 metres above sea level on the Stubai Glacier.

The Stubai Valley is a real natural paradise in summer - only 20 minutes from Innsbruck, it offers cool mountain air, clear lakes and impressive views. In four hiking areas, comfortable lifts take summer holidaymakers to themed trails, playgrounds and unique places at different altitudes. In addition, innovations such as a two-and-a-half kilometre-long slide path and new play houses on the “Baumhausweg” (treehouse path) will be added in summer - new stages will also be opened on the Stubai cycle path, the so-called cycle route number 19.

Aiming high: breathtaking views at over 3,000 metres

With an altitude of 3,210 metres, the summit platform "TOP OF TYROL" inspires. Thanks to the Eisgrat- and the Schaufeljochbahn it is easily accessible. It impresses with a breathtaking panoramic view on the Dolomites in Italy and the Stubai Alps, while a cool breeze provides refreshment on hot summer days. The Schaufeljoch chapel at the foot of the Schaufelspitze invites you to pause in the middle of the Stubai mountains. At the Eisgrat mountain station, there is a high-altitude playground at 2,900 metres. Children will find a six-metre-high wooden mammoth and a true-to-scale wooden snow groomer, which are ready for climbing, sliding and romping.

New and full of adventure

At the Schlick 2000 hiking centre in Fulpmes, families with children will explore the new slide path from summer 2025 on. On a two-and-a-half-kilometre path, nine slides, spread over seven stations, invite you to enjoy a cheerful downhill ride. The experience can be combined with the popular disc trail and the “Baumhausweg” (treehouse path), which has now been expanded with the dwarf farm at the Fronebenalm and the dwarf fire station at the bottom of the Stubai valley.

The start of the slide path is at the mountain station of the comfortable Galtbergbahn. There, where the Lakes trail begins. It connects the Galtalmsee and the Panoramasee. They both create a cool, idyllic atmosphere in the nature of the mountains.

Further adventure experiences and views of the area in the Kalkkögeln can be found on the nature trail and the StubaiBlick viewing platform, including fabulous fairy tale stations.

Water, forests, moors and thrills at the Serlesbahnen

With the "Koppeneck" platform and the two observation towers "Karwendelblick" and "Serlesblick", the Serlesbahnen in Mieders offer three resting places for great views of the surrounding panorama. The Serlespark at the mountain station, with three crystal-clear lakes, provides relaxation in the oases of peace for adults and fun for children in the water play area. At the end of the day, everyone gets an extra dose of thrill together on a descent on the summer toboggan run.

Sunshine time on the Elfer in Neustift

At the Elfer in Neustift, one of the Seven Summits Stubai, the topic of time plays a major role. That's why you will find the largest walk-on sundial in the Alps at the mountain station of the Elferbahnen. The impressive larch wood construction not only indicates the hours, but also serves as a viewing platform for the valley and its landscape. At the same time, it is the starting point for a number of hikes and a starting point for the many colourful paragliders who take to the skies here. From July to the beginning of September, the Elfer can even be visited until 9.30 p.m. every Wednesday with the evening rides.

Refreshing views and still water – natural jewels in the Stubai Valley

Even away from the cable cars, the Stubai Valley is a summer paradise for all those who are looking for cooling off and special nature experiences. With twelve selected natural sites, nine impressive mountain lakes and the unique WildeWasserWeg, the valley offers an impressive variety of places of power and retreat.

The natural sites invite you to linger with panoramic views, shady islands of peace and special natural phenomena. A highlight is the Neustiftblick natural site, which can be reachedvia the spectacular suspension bridge on Sunnenseit'n Weg. Here you can enjoy an incomparable view of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

The WildeWasserWeg, one of the most popular themed trails in Tyrol, leads along thundering waterfalls, clear mountain streams and quiet alpine pastures. Stations such as the imposing Grawa waterfall offer not only impressive photo opportunities, but also welcome refreshment - surrounded by the cool spray of the water.

The Stubai mountain lakes are often hidden in the middle of the alpine landscape and invite you to cool off. Each lake tells its own story - from the high-altitude glacial lake to the picturesque alpine waters. What they have in common is peace, originality and a very special magic that is best felt on site.

Cycle path through the Stubai Valley to Innsbruck

But not only hikers, also cycling fans will find what they are looking for in the Stubai Valley. The Stubai Cycle Path, Cycle Route number 19, leads from the rear Stubai via various stages through the five villages of the valley. From summer 2025, it will even be possible to cycle on the cycle path to Innsbruck.

Whether with sturdy hiking boots, barefoot on the shore or by bike - in the Stubai Valley, nature, water and far-reaching views merge into a summer experience that is lastingly refreshing.
