The Brass Ensemble South Tyrol consists of several brass instruments, trumpets, trombones and a velvet bass trombone. It is what gives the ensemble its own characteristic sound.
The repertoire encompasses works from several eras and styles: music from old masters, church music, musicals, operettas, jazz and swing.
The forerunner of the Brass Ensemble South Tyrol was the Brass Vocal Ensemble, which developed an extremely successful concert activity. It has made a special name for itself at numerous castle concerts, floor shows and with participation in well-known music festivals. It has played at Wolfsthurn Castle, Englar Castle, Welsperg Castle, at the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks, the Sterzing Easter Festival and at the Alpine Christmas market at Sarnthein.
The ensemble has also given several concerts with guest soloists Clara Sattler (soprano) and Gerhard Haller (tenor). In 2009/2010 the ensemble was on the road with a music cabaret production by Leo Ploner.
In 2013 there were several concerts with the soloist Beatrix Reiterer (soprano and musical performer) from Bozen/Cologne.
After the Brass Vocal Ensemble had celebrated its 15th anniversary on stage in 2014, it transformed into the “Brass Ensemble South Tyrol” with its refreshing brass sound!
