Winter hiking Neustift

Unterberger circular hike

Start / Goal: Krößbach lift
Length:  6 - 9 km (entire circuit)
Walking time: approx. 2 - 2.5 hours
Cross the bridge directly next to the parking area, continue along a well cleared route, in scenic surroundings far from the main road, until you reach Volderau. This alternative entry point has enough parking spaces and shortens the circular tour a little. From Volderau, the winter hiking trail ascends gently for 2.8 km, along the stream for most of the way, to the forest café in Falbeson. Go over the road and walk to the Doadleralm meadow. From here, the trail continues for 3 km on the other side of the valley, over snowy forest and meadow paths, back to Volderau. Cross over the bridge there and you're back at the starting point. In case you start from Krößbach, the route goes back the same way to the lift.

Neustifter circular hike

Option 1
Start / Goal: Neustift Leisure Centre
Length: 6 - 9 km (entire circuit)
Walking time: approx. 1.5 - 2.5 hrs.
From the Leisure Centre parking area, follow the path next to the stream into the valley until you reach Schaller. Cross over the main road there. The path leads back alongside the forest on the other side of the valley. Alternatively, you can continue the hike to Krößbach. Moving out of the valley, the trail runs to the Neustift organic biomass station. Here, you cross over the main road again and go over a field also used as a ski cross-country trail. The last section runs parallel to this trail back to the starting point.

Option 2
Start / Goal: Bachertal parking area
Length: 4 km (there and back)
Walking time: approx. 1.5 hrs.
From the Bachertal parking area (at Neustift open air pool) a leisurely, 45-minute route popular with the locals takes you to the Kartnall farms. This spot offers breathtaking views of the whole valley, and delicious food is on offer.

Option 3
Start / Goal: Elferbahn parking area
Length:
5.5 km (entire circuit)
Walking time: approx. 1.5 hrs.
The hike starts at the Elfer lift parking area, continuing across snow covered fields to Neder, where the trail goes across the so-called "Herrengasse" to the Kampl district. Going down a gentle incline, follow the road until you reach the main road after around 400 m. Cross it and follow the path next to the stream back to the starting point.

Oberbergtal

Start / Goal: Seduck parking area
Length: 8 km (there and back)
Walking time: approx. 2.5 hrs.
This hike is a real insider tip for all those seeking a special way to experience the peace and quiet of nature. Starting at the Seduck parking area, proceed along the roadway, which is covered with snow in winter and closed to traffic. You might encounter a ski tourer along the way. Going past the Stöcklenalm meadow, the path takes you up the last incline to the Oberissalm meadow. Both Alpine meadows are closed in winter. The starting point can be reached by going back the same way.

Milderer Berg

Option 1
Start / Goal: Josef parking area
Length: 4 - 7 km (there and back)
Walking time: approx. 1 hr. - 3 hrs.
Beginning at the "Josef" parking area, the trail goes steadily upwards through snow covered forests, along the toboggan run either to the Auffangalm meadow (2.2 km) or the Brandstattalm meadow (3.5 km), where you can enjoy the cosy Alpine meadow atmosphere and sample the food and drink.

Option 2
Start / Goal:  Bichlhof / Krößbach parking area
Length: 5.5 km
Walking time: approx. 1 hr. - 3 hrs.
This option starts at the Bichlhof parking area above Milders. From there, follow the signposted trail towards Oberegg. Wander through quiet forests through the small village Oberegg to Krößbach, where you can take the winter hiking trail no. 5 (Neustift circular route) or travel back to the starting point with public transport.

Pinnistal

Start / Goal:  Neder
Length: 11 km (there and back)
Walking time: approx. 3 hrs.
The cleared trail extends from the starting point in Neder to the Pinnisalm meadow. If you don't want to do the whole stretch to the Pinnisalm at once, why not stop at the Issenangeralm halfway along the route. The most beautiful part of the hike is fairly flat, leading from the Issenangeralm to the Pinnisalm.
