Schlicker See Lake

In-Between Two Worlds

Schlicker See is a small mountain lake that has outstanding geological features. Near the lake runs the border between primary rock and limestone. Here you can see the different types of rock next to each other: the quieter shapes of primary rocks on lush green terrain right next to the ash-grey limestone deposition hills, where only few flowers and little grass can survive. In any case the lake is a fantastic viewing spot for the entire Stubai Valley.

The high-altitude trail leads from the Schlicker Bergbahnen mountain station on Kreuzjoch slightly uphill to Niedere Burgstall and then to the saddle of Schlicker Jöchl (2,456m). From there it is only a few minutes to the lake. For getting back to Fulpmes you can descend past Schlicker Alm hut. From the panorama lake, which is located en route to Froneben mid-station, you can enjoy great views. Another option for the way back down is the route past Starkenburger Hütte to Kreuzjoch top terminal.
