16. Alpein Waterfall and Apere Turm

Elemental Force of Mountain Brooks

The Alpein Waterfall and the wild and powerful Alpein brook rank among the most beautiful water sites in the Stubai Alps. The hike to the summit of Apere Turm leads past a deep-green glacier lake up to one the best viewing mountains of the Stubai Valley.

From Oberissalm to Franz-Senn-Hütte as described above. Then you follow the flat valley bottom into the deeply indented Trogtal Valley. At the end of the valley floor the trail continues to the left and leads to the escarpments along Alpein brook. The waterfall is a bit above the trail, but can be seen well from there. From there the trail to the summit is a real mountaineering tour. Past flower-strewn terrain at the forefield of the glacier the well developed trail leads across moraines and rocky terrain up to fantastic alpine scenery. Unexpectedly, on top of a moraine ridge, the turquoise shining glacier lake comes into view. After a short escarpment you’re on top of this fantastic viewing mountain.
