Sometimes it is difficult to describe the character of a place. Irrespective of the weather Rinnensee lake is always a unique place with a mystical atmosphere! Because the sun rises from the waters of the lake like an orange, mist wafts around the summits of the Alpein mountains or the lake itself shines in all possible colours: in sunshine the water of the lake is predominantly turquoise, in the shade the lake mirrors all colours of the surrounding mountains and clouds. One of the most beautiful spots of this world! The ascent to Rinnensee lake is a fantastic mountain hike. The scenery changes continuously and en route you can enjoy dreamlike views of the mountains and the valley. From the car park at Oberissalm the trail leads slightly uphill to the valley bottom, an escarpment is conquered on flat serpentines. The hike continues in a relaxed way, through the boggy terrain of Alpeiner Alm pasture, to Franz-Senn-Hütte. There is the first spot for enjoying a fantastic view of the 3,000m-high summits of the Alpeiner Berge mountains. The crux of the climb is the steep escarpment just above the hut. You need to be sure-footed and careful to conquer it. After this narrow stretch the trail continues steadily uphill and you can enjoy fantastic views of the wild mountains. Just before the lake the trails leads through coarse boulders. A lot of tedious work was required to make the trail. At the lake are fantastic spots for resting.
