Große Trögler mountain is one of the best viewing spots of the Stubai Alps.
Despite its moderate height of 2,902m the panoramic view is, thanks to the special location of the summit, convincing: Since Großer Trögler is set just before the mountains of the main Alpine ridge it is a perfect box seat for observing the majestic ice fall of Sulzenauferner and the most famous mountains of the Stubai Alps like the Zuckerhütl, Wilder Freiger, Ruderhofspitze and many other summits that are lined up like a string of pearls around the mountain and show their best sides.
Start: Stubaier Gletscherbahnen mid-terminal (2,290m) / Dresdner Hütte (2,308m)Finish: Großer Trögler (2,902m)Difficulty: intermediateWalking time: 2 hoursAltitude gain: 620mRest stops: Dresdner HütteFrom the gondola we cross the flat valley bottom to get to the shady western slope of Große Trögler. The steep slope is covered with many boulders. The climb is easier than expected and the serpentines are manageable without too much effort. Behind a ridge you are surprised by the view of the glacier world which opens up unexpectedly. Just before the summit the trail gets more demanding.
