SUNNENSEIT’N WEG

Sun-blessed and easily accessible

On the sunny side of the Stubai, hikers can discover a cultural as well as scenic diversity and thereby enjoy a generous view onto the valley. Constantly facing the sun, the Sunnenseit’n Weg (sunny side path) goes from the middle station Froneben (1. 362 m) at Schlick 2000 via Vergör to Pfurtschell and on to Kartnall. The total length of the path, which lies between about 1.250 and 1.350 m above sea level and connects the villages of Neustift and Fulpmes, is about 8 km.

One of the highlights of the Sunnenseit’n Weg is the suspension bridge with its 110 m spread hanging 50 m over the ground.
Above the suspension bridge, a new platform was built – the scenic nature site “Neustiftblick”. From there you can admire Neustift, the third biggest community of Tyrol, which has the second biggest village church from the 18th century in its center. At Pfurtschell and Kartnall along the path, where today tourism and agriculture secure the existence of the families, a part of the history of the valley is apparent as well. Protected from flooding, mudslides and avalanches, the sunny side of the Stubai has been cultivated since the medieval times. Compared to the shady side (called “Neder” shady side by the locals), it is more suitable for agricultural use.

Hiking TIP: "Short round tour" suspension bridge
As there is only very limited parking available on Pfurtschell, we recommend starting at the Zegger parking lot in Neder (free parking with your guest card): Zegger parking lot - old Ladestatthof - Ebnerhof - suspension bridge - Pfurtschell - descent (hiking trail between the Pfurtschellhöfe farms). This circular tour is not too long, very beautiful and the Zegger parking lot is large enough.

Convenient taxi service to and from Pfurtschell

If you want to make the ascent and descent to/from the Sunnenseit'n Weg in comfort, you can use a taxi service to/from Pfurtschell. Taxi Schöpf takes hikers from the valley to Pfurtschell and picks up tired hikers at Pfurtschell after the tour, making for a relaxed hike. The service can be booked flexibly - ideal for anyone who wants a stress-free start to their hiking day.
