Welcome to our traditionally styled mountain hut, built in 1886 surrounded by impressive glacier striations. Our cosy dining rooms are the ideal place to spend a pleasant evening. Prepare to be treated to our cuisine made from local and home-grown products. Enjoy our ‘Marende’ or a piece of home-made cake on our sunny terrace with its newly constructed verandah. Accommodation is in spacious and comfortable bedrooms and dormitories. There are lots of worthwhile destinations nearby, providing a wide-ranging programme of activities for the whole family, either for one-day or multi-day hikes. Natural stone and rock face for bouldering, two climbing parks, a via ferrata, zip-line, the ‘Paradise’ high moorland and spectacular views from the Mairspitze panoramic summit at 2,780 m, Freigersee and Wilder Freiger at 3,418 m..

Facilities

The hut was built in 1886 with 8 dormitories, has been extended four times, and since 1960 it has about 57 beds plus about 76 sleeping spaces in dormitories. In 2013/14 the hut underwent technical modernisation. Nevertheless, it has retained its historic character.The four dining rooms offer seating for 130 guests. There’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy a wonderful evening in the hut. From time to time, the landlord and his team provide musical entertainment.Our comfortable new terrace is the ideal place to enjoy the sun. In an extension building, you will find a bouldering wall, a ping pong table and a seating area. In and around the hut there are lots of opportunities for young and old to play.In 2013/14, we added both a new sewage treatment facility and a hydroelectric power plant. When the weather is cold, the hut is kept warm at all times, the enlarged drying room does its name justice and our five showers are always reliable.
